2018 OGRAIN Winter Conference

Thank you to the 200 farmers, researchers and ag industry folks that joined us for a fantastic conference. Videos of many of the sessions are posted for free access on the OGRAIN YouTube channel.

Thanks to the many speakers and sponsors that contributed time and resources to make this event a success.

“OGRAIN 2018 was one of the most beneficial conferences I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending, and I have attended numerous other conferences over the years. What initially drew me to this conference was the primary focus on grains and no-till.  It truly delivered on everything I was looking for and I came away with more ideas, knowledge, and excitement than I expected.  Thank you for putting it on, I know a tremendous amount of work and planning went into it – and it showed. “

Experienced grain farmers share tips

Close to 200 area row crop producers met Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27, 2018 on the UW-Madison campus to explore beginning and advanced topics focused on successful organic grain production and marketing. This two-day intensive offered by the Organic Grain Resources and Information Network (OGRAIN) and the Farm and Industry Short Course (FISC) at UW-Madison guided farmers in taking advantage of the rapidly growing market for organic grain.

Presentations, panels, and discussions led by experienced organic farmers, researchers, agency personnel and industry representatives engaged attendees. We learned from experts as well as from participant discussion. Keynote presenter Klaas Martens brought a vast storehouse of knowledge from years of diversified grain production on 1,600 certified organic acres in upper New York state.

The two-day event, only $80.00 per person, included 15 presentations, a resource book, access to sponsor information tables, as well as light breakfast and full lunches on both Friday and Saturday.

The 2-day conference offered Continuing Education Units for Certified Crop Advisors:  1.5 credits in Nutrient Management, 3.5 in Integrated Pest Management, 10.5 in Crop Management and 6.5 in Sustainability.
